Vindicta’s god offerings: outdated
or progressive?

Author: Yousra Birafane

Last Friday, Vindicta’s weekly god offerings took place in one of their most exclusive bars. The controversial tradition has been alive for decades but has recently gained quite the attention. Protesters deem the ritual as ‘misogynistic’ and ‘dehumanising’ and urge defenders of the practice to reevaluate their moral principles.

Although the ritual has never been a secret, it is accompanied by an occult connotation. Very few are aware of what the offerings actually entail and being in the presence of one is only for the elite. Frederick Michaels, Professor of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Vindicain, disclosed that the ritual must contain a young female virgin and is notorious for its sexual and, sometimes, violent nature.

The professor prefaced this statement by clarifying that all parties involved are consenting members and that no one has to do anything against their will. Michaels states, “The god offerings might seem inhumane and cruel to those without much knowledge about the topic but it is important to remember that it is for a greater good. The main goal it is to honour the gods, without them none of us would be able to thrive in this great country.”

Other advocates of the tradition affirm that people are fabricating a false narrative and that more people should be grateful that the offerings still take place despite the changing political climate. Protesters however, demand that supporters and accomplices stop the practice immediately and become conscious of the damage it does on women all around the world.

Their aversion has not gone unnoticed and the protesters have been charged for hate speech and breach of peace. Vindicta’s Police Department declares that there is no place for misconduct in the country and that anyone who decides to go out of their way commit a crime as abominable as this, will be punished.

It is clear that the law-abiding citizens of the established Duchy of Vindicta show no opposition to the god offerings. They even show gratitude to the practice and pray to one day be part of the ritual. For the Vindicainians the god offerings are what keeps the country prosperous and is the gift that keeps on giving. When asked about the misunderstandings of the tradition, they all came to the conclusion that at the end of the day, all great things in life come with a price.
